Tips to Keep Warm at Work in the Office during Winter

Tips to Keep Warm at Work in the Office during Winter

You enter the office, it’s dark, cold. Your nose is running, there’s no feeling left in your fingers and there’s a tetchy itch crawling around your head.

That’s when you know winter has arrived, it can be a struggle to survive the chill. But never fear we have you covered with this article! It will teach you how to stay warm in the freezing winter months. (Can you believe it’s been 6 months since we were giving you tips on how to stay cool in summer!?)

Dress in Layers

Wear layers to keep warm at work

One of the simplest ways to keep warm at work is by dressing in layers. Layering your clothing allows you to add or remove layers according to your body’s warmth, keeping you comfortable throughout the day. Start with a base layer made of moisture-wicking material, such as wool or polyester, to keep you dry. Then add a warmer layer like a sweater or cardigan over it. Finally, top it off with a jacket or coat for extra insulation.

Keep Your Feet Warm

It’s no secret that our feet are one of the first body parts to feel cold. To combat this, make sure to wear warm and comfortable socks while at work. You can also invest in a pair of indoor slippers or keep a spare pair of warm shoes at your desk to slip into when needed. Additionally, try placing a small rug or mat under your desk to insulate your feet from the cold floor.

Make Use of Accessories

Accessories such as scarves, gloves, and beanies are not only stylish but also functional in keeping you warm at work. Keep a cosy scarf or wrap at your desk to drape over your shoulders when needed. Fingerless gloves are great for typing while keeping your hands warm, and a beanie can easily fit under a hood or hat for added insulation.

Have Hot Beverages

No winter survival guide would be complete without mentioning the benefits of hot beverages. Sipping on a warm cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate throughout the day can provide much needed warmth and comfort. Consider investing in a personal mug warmer to keep your drink at the perfect temperature.

Stay Active

It’s tempting to stay hunched over our desks during winter, but keeping active is essential for staying warm. Take short breaks throughout the day to stretch, walk around the office, or do some simple exercises at your desk. Not only will this keep you warm, but it’s also great for your physical and mental well-being.

Make Your Workspace Cosier

Adding small touches to your workspace can make a big difference in keeping you warm and comfortable. Consider adding a blanket or throw to your chair, using a heated mouse pad, or even getting a small space heater for under your desk. Just be sure to follow any office guidelines or safety precautions when using personal heaters.

Stay Hydrated

While it may seem counterintuitive, staying hydrated is crucial for staying warm in the office. Drinking water throughout the day helps regulate your body temperature and keeps you from becoming dehydrated, which can make you more susceptible to feeling cold. Keep a water bottle at your desk and refill it regularly.

Conclusion

With these tips, you can stay warm and cosy at work during winter without sacrificing productivity. Remember to dress in layers, keep your feet warm, make use of accessories, have hot beverages, stay active, adjust the office temperature if needed, add cosiness to your workspace, and stay hydrated. Don’t let the cold weather outside affect your work inside; implement these tips and stay warm all winter long! So bundle up, stay warm and be happy.
