Meet the Staff: Lisa Tillison

In our newest meet the staff article, get to know our very own Lisa T, what she loves about Hull, her favourite meal and so much more!

Lisa T is our Tutor/Assessor/Skills Coach at HBTC, she is an expert in her field and we decided to ask her a few questions so you can get to know her as well as we do!

What is your job title and what do you most enjoy about your job?

Meet the staff - Lisa Tillison

My job title is Tutor/Assessor/Skills Coach and the most enjoyable thing is supporting learners to be the best they can be, sharing some of my experience and wisdom with them and also learning about the various businesses they work in.  At the minute I am working with 6 learners from the same company and they each work in a different area of the business so I get to see the bigger picture of how that business operates which I find really interesting.  It’s also great to see learners build their confidence throughout their learning journey.

What is your favourite thing about Hull?

Can I say heading over the bridge and back home?  I like the Old Town with its cobbled streets and some of the buildings are really impressive architecturally.

If you could travel to any location in the world, where would you go and why?

The Bahamas, no question, I visited first when I was 21 with my late friend and her family, and I’ve been back with my husband since.  It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places on the planet and the people are really friendly.  There are so many shades of blue that it is just dazzling, white sandy beaches and the marine life is stunning, oh and sun, haven’t seen much of that this summer!

What is your favourite animal and why is it your favourite?

Cats, big and small, they have presence and cattitude and I’m a Leo! 😺

Tell me an interesting fact about you!

I helped a friend out who was working on Paul McCartney’s Back in the World Tour in 2002.  I was Assistant Dressing Room Coordinator for a number of the UK shows and also in Rome where a stage was set up outside the Coliseum for the public which 500,000 people attended and Paul also did a show inside the Coliseum for local dignitaries which is a sight I will never forget!

Favourite meal?

Beans on Toast – especially if it’s upgraded with a slice of bacon under the beans and grated cheese on top 🙂

What TV series are you currently watching?

Currently watching Wolf, a very strange and disturbing series so far …
