Jack… From Administrator Apprentice to Lettings Manager and Sales Director

Jack… From Administrator Apprentice to Lettings Manager and Sales Director

Jack’s upward trajectory since the beginning of his career as an Administrator Apprentice has been nothing short of stunning. At MyPad Accommodation, he started at the bottom and has now worked his way to the top with his hard work and commitment to the business.

Jack has now completed two separate apprenticeships with us, starting with his Business Administration apprenticeship 8 years ago!!! Jack then moved on to his Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship, which has allowed him to excel in his role as Lettings Manager and Sales Director.

Jack finished his education at Wyke College and admittedly was apprehensive towards apprenticeships at first, as almost all his friends were heading off to university. Jack then got in contact with HBTC and secured himself an apprenticeship at MyPad Accommodation Letting and Estate Agency, starting off as an Administrator Apprentice.

After completion of his apprenticeship, and impressing at MyPad, he moved on to a L3 Team Leader/ Supervisor apprenticeship with HBTC. Jack did this so he could improve his leadership skills to allow him to progress within his role and become a manager/director.

This is proof of how successful you can become so quickly by taking the apprenticeship route, not to boast on his behalf too much, but he even has percentage ownership within the sales side of the business!

Completing the L3 Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship has helped develop his confidence more in his role, as he now has greater knowledge of how to deal with most situations that arise as a manager.

The aspects Jack most enjoyed about completing his apprenticeship were learning a broader way of thinking, the course he did provided lots of different perspectives on how to deal with certain situations, as well as different techniques and methods to do so.

We asked Jack “what would you say to employers thinking of recruiting an apprentice?”

“The word apprentice can sometimes have negative connotations for some employers, but there is nothing quite like getting hold of a hardworking, young & enthusiastic individual, particularly with little to no experience which may sound odd. But it allows the business to shape and mould them into exactly what their business needs, as they are starting from scratch there are little to no bad habits that they may have picked up in previous roles. It is like having a blank canvas!”

We also asked “what would you say about HBTC?”

“There is a reason I have returned to further my learning with HBTC all but 6/7 years later, as their support & training is second to none. Not only do they provide the most effective learning for me personally but they really take into account me as a person and are on hand for any additional needs I may require. For instance, I had a large project that took up a lot of my time within my day-to-day working role and HBTC understood this so was flexible with my studying time and allowed me to fit my studying around this, which really gave me a realistic plan of action, propelling me to completing.

I know a lot of training providers wouldn’t have had the time of day to take this into account, and will have just added more pressure and stress to an already tough time.”

Even though he has already achieved so much, so quickly. It has not thwarted his ambitions. We asked him “What are your future career aspirations?”

“My future aspirations are to propel the business even further and watch it grow even quicker and bigger than it has in the 8 years I have been in here, now I am an integral part of it. It is a great honour to have such responsibility and I am excited to see how far we can go with it.”
