We are currently looking for a skilled IT Support Engineer to join a growing IT services team in Hull!

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong technical background who enjoys solving problems, supporting users, and working across a variety of systems and technologies.

You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality IT support to a range of clients, ensuring systems run smoothly and issues are resolved efficiently. You will be responsible for providing technical support across desktop, server, and network environments, while working closely with both clients and internal teams to diagnose issues, maintain systems, and support ongoing IT operations. This role offers a varied workload, combining day-to-day support with involvement in wider IT improvements and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support across desktops, servers, and networks
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Manage and update support tickets, ensuring timely resolutions
  • Escalate more complex issues when required
  • Support system maintenance, updates, and security processes
  • Assist with user account management and system access
  • Configure and deploy new devices and software
  • Monitor system performance, backups, and overall reliability
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems and support activities
  • Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365
  • Server infrastructure and Active Directory
  • Networking (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs)
  • Endpoint devices and desktop environments
  • IT security and backup solutions

Skills & Knowledge

  • Experienced in IT support (1st, 2nd line or similar), or service desk environments
  • A strong problem-solver with a proactive mindset
  • Confident in communicating with both technical and non-technical users
  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • A team player who supports colleagues and shares knowledge
  • Good understanding of Windows systems and networking fundamentals
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and user administration
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, and general IT security is beneficial
  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Ability to travel to client sites when needed

Location: West Hull

Wage: £26k-£30k per year
