What Will I Learn?

Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the organisation by promoting diversity, inclusion, equality, and acceptance of all learners. This includes challenging stereotyped views, bullying or harassment, and fostering a positive, respectful environment.
Ensure Safeguarding and Wellbeing
Implement safeguarding policies and safe practices—including online safety and confidentiality—in line with legislation and school procedures. Support learners’ social, emotional, mental health, wellbeing, and personal care needs in accordance with organisational policy.
Collaborate with Colleagues and Families
Work in partnership with teaching staff, SENDCo, external professionals, and parents/carers to support learners’ development, ensuring coordinated efforts to meet individual needs.
Promote Effective Learning and Behaviour
Understand the specific needs of learners and use targeted strategies to help them achieve their learning goals. Promote engagement and positive learning behaviours to foster independent learning. Establish positive relationships with learners and consistently apply behaviour policies to encourage constructive behaviour.
Support Teaching, Learning, and Assessment
Assist in delivering individual and small group teaching within defined plans and in collaboration with the teacher. Support the monitoring, recording, and reporting of learner outcomes, and contribute to assessment and planning as agreed with teaching staff.
Contribute to Learning Environments and Enrichment
Help create a stimulating and safe learning environment by preparing and selecting appropriate teaching resources that meet diverse learner needs. Support or lead enrichment activities such as visits, clubs, or out-of-school programmes.
Engage in Professional Development
Reflect on personal practice and engage in relevant professional development opportunities, with guidance and support from colleagues.

Absolutely loved being a part of HBTC. I would highly recommend working with them. The staff are amazing and Lisa in particular, has been so supportive and helped me throughout my apprenticeship. I completed my exam the other week and I have achieved 2 Distinctions, therefore, I am now a fully qualified level 3 Teaching assistant. From the very begin of starting my level 3 support and learning course I have had members of the HBTC team helping me find my feet/fill in forms and help with general enquiries. The last 2 years I have had very supportive tutors to help and guide me along my teaching assistant journey. Nothing is ever to much and they are always willing to help.
