Technical IT Support Engineer Level 2

A respected regional IT Solutions Provider is searching for a Technical IT Support Engineer (Level 2) to join their expanding support team in Hull.
In this role, you’ll support a wide variety of clients, blending remote troubleshooting with on-site technical work. Your days will range from resolving network quirks to implementing secure, elegant solutions that keep businesses running with quiet confidence. Adaptability, clear communication, and a steady, client-focused mindset are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues across desktops, networks, applications, telecoms, and related technologies
- Configure and maintain switches, firewalls, and wireless equipment
- Manage support tickets efficiently and keep clients informed throughout
- Support and maintain Microsoft 365 and Windows operating systems
- Deliver and oversee client-facing IT projects and installations
- Collaborate with third-party vendors on complex technical challenges
- Provide exceptional customer service and clear technical guidance
- Work flexibly when required, including occasional out-of-hours support
- Participate in the on-call rota after six months of employment
Skills & Knowledge
Essential:
- Strong understanding of Cyber Security principles
- Ability to configure and maintain switches, firewalls, and wireless equipment
- Solid grasp of TCP/IP fundamentals and network management
- Understanding of VPN, LAN, WAN, VLAN, DNS, DHCP
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems
- Experience with industry-standard firewalls (SonicWALL preferred or equivalent)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident user of Microsoft 365
- Customer-focused approach with high empathy
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to commute to the head office in Hull
Desirable:
- Experience supporting modern Windows Server and Windows Desktop environments
- Active Directory and Group Policy administration
- Experience delivering client IT projects end-to-end
- Microsoft Hyper-V management
- Exposure to VOIP technologies
- Experience with Web Hosting and DNS
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure
- Exposure to Apple and Linux operating systems
- Experience with Remote Desktop Services
- Microsoft 365 certification (Administrator Expert preferred)
