IT Support Apprentice

 

Ability IT is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic IT Support Apprentice to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for technology and problem-solving to gain hands-on experience and develop a strong foundation in IT.

The successful apprentice will play an active role in supporting users, maintaining systems, and learning from experienced professionals within a friendly and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responding to helpdesk queries via phone, email, or ticketing system.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Escalating complex issues to 2nd or 3rd line support teams.
  • Assisting with the setup and configuration of new IT equipment (PCs, printers, routers, etc.).
  • Applying software updates and security patches.
  • Monitoring antivirus software and backups.
  • Helping users understand and use software tools effectively.
  • Setting up new user accounts and permissions (e.g., Active Directory, Microsoft 365).

Skills & Knowledge

  • Basic computing skills – comfortable using Windows and Microsoft 365.
  • Strong communication skills – able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • Patience and problem-solving ability – able to stay calm and think logically when resolving issues.
  • Good time management – capable of prioritising and handling multiple tasks effectively.
  • Attention to detail – thorough and accurate in all aspects of work.
  • Willingness to learn – eager to develop new skills and grow within the role.
