As a Health Care Navigator/Admin Assistant Apprentice, you’ll be an important part of the front-line team, helping patients access the care and support they need. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a busy GP practice, learning how a healthcare environment works while completing your apprenticeship qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Greeting patients and handling reception duties
- Answering and making telephone calls in a professional manner
- Booking, amending, and cancelling medical appointments
- Responding to patient queries and signposting to appropriate services
- Managing incoming post and medical records
- Processing repeat prescriptions accurately
- Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
- General administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and office support
Skills & Knowledge
- Polite, friendly, and approachable
- Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn
- A clear communicator, both verbally and in writing
- A good listener with a professional telephone manner
- Able to communicate sensitively and respectfully with people from all backgrounds
- Confident using basic computer systems
- Grades 4 or above in GCSE English and Maths (or willingness to work towards them as part of the apprenticeship)
