Meet the Staff: Vicki

Meet the Staff: Vicki

This month, in our latest Meet the Staff article, we’re introducing Vicki, our Assessor Supervisor, a dedicated and much-loved member of our HBTC team.

Known for her hard work, warm personality, and unwavering commitment to learners and colleagues alike, Vicki is a true asset to the HBTC family. We sat down with her to learn more about her journey, her motivation, and a few fun facts that make her who she is.

Can you share a little about your professional background and how it has shaped your role?

“After completing my Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeships, I always knew I wanted to become an assessor. I joined HBTC in 2013 as a trainee tutor/assessor and administrator. Since then, I’ve completed various qualifications and received training and support to develop in my current role. I’ve been given a lot of opportunities and have always been supported continuously to develop and progress.”

Vicki’s journey is a brilliant example of how passion, dedication, and the right support can lead to long-term success, and she now uses that experience to guide and mentor others.

What inspired you to join our team, and what do you enjoy most about working here?

What drew Vicki in over a decade ago is the same thing that keeps her here now: a supportive environment where people can truly thrive. She loves being part of a team that values growth, collaboration, and making a real difference for learners.

Meet the Staff: Vicki, our Assessor Supervisor.

How do you stay motivated and inspired in your work?

“I like that every day is different. I meet with a range of learners and employers who are all at different stages of their Apprenticeships. I manage my own diary and can be flexible to meet their needs. I find the variety of employers and learner roles so interesting, and it gives me an insight into what different companies do.”

For Vicki, the diversity of the job is a constant source of inspiration. No two days look the same, and that’s exactly how she likes it.

If you could have any superpower to improve your work life, what would it be and why?

“My superpower would be to freeze time.”

A practical choice!

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?

“I would love to go to the Maldives, pure luxury and relaxation. I was booked to go in 2020 but due to COVID this was cancelled, and since having children I’ve not had the opportunity to.”

We hope you get that well-deserved paradise getaway soon, Vicki!

What is your go-to comfort food, and do you have a story behind it?

“I loveeeee chocolate in any way, shape, or form! It’s my go-to food on an evening when all the jobs are done and it’s ‘me’ time… (also so the children don’t steal it!)”

Relatable. Very relatable.

What’s your favourite book or movie, and what about it resonates with you?

“My favourite film has to be The Notebook. I love a soppy film that I can have a good cry to haha!”

A classic choice for anyone who appreciates a heartfelt story (and a good emotional release!).

Thank you, Vicki!

We’re incredibly lucky to have Vicki leading our assessor team. Her kindness, energy, and commitment make HBTC a better place every single day. If you work with her, you’ll already know how brilliant she is, and if you don’t, now you do!
