Northcott School is looking for two dedicated Teaching Assistant Apprentices to join their Lower School team, supporting pupils from early years through to age 11.
This role provides the chance to gain hands-on experience while learning from skilled staff, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs. It is an excellent first step for anyone passionate about helping children learn, grow, and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting and supervising pupils with special educational needs.
- Helping pupils stay safe and engaged in learning activities.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting children to take responsibility.
- Assisting teachers with lessons, adapting activities and resources for pupils.
- Helping with classroom displays and setting up creative activities.
- Supporting children with reading, writing, and numeracy.
- Encouraging safe play and interaction during break and lunchtime.
- Supporting children with autism and speech/communication needs to play, interact, and learn together.
Skills & Knowledge
- Grade 4 in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English
- Strong communication skills and motivation to build a career working with children.
- Empathy, patience, and emotional maturity.
- A DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
