Walk for Autism – Celebrating Evie’s Incredible Achievement

Celebrating Evie’s Incredible AchievementWalk for Autism

We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our amazing apprentices, Evie, who has recently completed her inspiring Walk for Autism challenge, raising both awareness and vital funds for an incredible cause.

Evie set out with a goal to walk 10,000 steps a day over 8 days, aiming for a total of 80,000 steps. Not only did she meet that target, but she surpassed it spectacularly, reaching an impressive 93,894 steps by the end of the challenge.

Her determination didn’t stop there. With an initial fundraising goal of £250, Evie has already raised £305, exceeding expectations and making a meaningful contribution to supporting autistic individuals and their families.

Why Evie Took on the Challenge

Evie’s motivation for taking part in Walk for Autism is deeply personal and rooted in her own life experiences. Having grown up around autism and now working within a SEN school environment, Evie sees every day just how incredible children with additional needs truly are. She is passionate about supporting them to reach their full potential and thrive.

This passion is especially close to her heart because of her younger sister, Poppy, who has Swan syndrome and autism. Evie speaks about her with immense pride, describing her as brave, intelligent, and truly special. Seeing her sister’s journey first-hand has shaped Evie’s determination to support other families navigating similar experiences and to contribute in any way she can.

As part of this, Evie chose to support Walk for Autism, a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. The organisation works towards creating a world where every autistic person has the support they need to live fulfilling lives, with opportunities to grow, develop, and be part of inclusive communities. This mission strongly aligns with Evie’s own values and experiences, making it the perfect cause for her to support.

She shared:

“I found Walk for Autism and the charity autism initiatives, as I had always wanted to do more to help families who struggle and need that extra support, as growing up with a sister with severe disability and autism, I really saw first-hand how difficult it can be on parents and family members. I started looking into different charities online, and they were all amazing, but Walk for Autism really stood out to me, and I signed up for it instantly.”

Supporting a Meaningful Cause

Through services such as supported living, specialist education, outreach programmes, and community hubs, Autism Initiatives Group continues to make a lasting difference, helping individuals build independence, confidence, and meaningful connections within their communities. Evie’s efforts contribute directly to supporting these life-changing services, helping to ensure more individuals and families receive the support they need.

There’s Still Time to Support

Although Evie has completed her walking challenge, there is still time to show your support. Donations remain open until noon on Thursday, 30th April 2026, so if you’d like to contribute, now is the perfect time to get involved. Every donation, no matter the size, helps to make a difference!

A Huge Well Done

Evie’s commitment, compassion, and determination are truly inspiring. She has gone above and beyond, not only smashing her step target but also exceeding her fundraising goal and raising awareness for an important cause. We couldn’t be prouder to support Evie as one of our apprentices. Her efforts are a fantastic example of the positive impact our apprentices can make both in and out of the workplace.

Well done, Evie!
