An established technology services provider based in Hull is seeking an IT Support Engineer to join its growing support team. This role involves delivering technical assistance to a varied client base and supporting the implementation and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure.

The successful candidate will have prior experience in an IT support environment, strong problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused approach. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities and projects. Some travel to customer sites will be required; a full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential.

This position offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of technologies while contributing to the delivery of high-quality IT services and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1st IT line support and diagnose and resolve IT issues relating to desktops, applications, networking, printing, telecommunications and general infrastructure, both remotely and on-site
  • Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, delivering a high standard of customer service
  • Escalate to 2nd and 3rd line support where necessary
  • Provide support for Microsoft 365 environments and services
  • Assist in identifying and resolving technical issues in collaboration with third-party vendors
  • Take ownership of support tickets, ensuring customers are kept up to date
  • Perform configuration and maintenance tasks on network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and wireless equipment
  • Maintain knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and network management concepts
  • Understand networking technologies such as VPN, LAN, WAN, VLAN, DNS and DHCP
  • Provide support across Microsoft operating systems and core Microsoft technologies
  • Work with industry-standard firewall platforms or equivalent security appliances
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and be able to commute to the Hull office and client sites

Skills & Knowledge

  • Technical support experience
  • Experience supporting modern Windows Server and Windows desktop environments
  • Knowledge of Remote Desktop Services environments
  • Administration of Active Directory
  • Experience managing virtualisation platforms such as Hyper-V
  • Knowledge of VoIP technologies
  • Familiarity with web hosting environments and DNS management
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Experience supporting Apple and Linux operating systems
  • Microsoft certifications
