Raising Money for Mental Health Awareness

Raising Money for Mental Health Awareness

Mental health is an essential aspect of our overall well-being, affecting how we think, feel, and act. Yet, despite its significance, mental health often remains a stigmatised and overlooked topic. That’s why initiatives like Mental Health Awareness Week, which ran from May 13-19 this year, play a crucial role in bringing this issue to the forefront.

HBTC’s Commitment to Raising Awareness

During Mental Health Awareness Week, our team at HBTC took several meaningful steps to support and promote mental health awareness. Here’s a glimpse of our efforts:

Wear It Green Day

On Thursday, May 16, HBTC staff participated in the Mental Health Foundation’s Wear It Green initiative. The idea was simple but powerful—wear green to spark conversations about mental health. Our office was a sea of green, and the visual impact served as a constant reminder of the importance of mental health.

Conversation Starter Cards

To further encourage open dialogue, we placed conversation starter cards in our staff tea room and reception area. These cards featured thought-provoking questions and prompts designed to make it easier for people to talk about mental health. The initiative was well-received and led to some heartfelt and enlightening conversations among team members.

Fundraising Sweepstake

Throughout the week, we also ran a fundraising sweepstake to collect donations for mental health awareness. The sweepstake was a fun and engaging way to get everyone involved and we raised £45 for a good cause. We’re thrilled to announce that Richard won the sweepstake and received a goodie bag filled with green-themed goodies!

The Importance of Continual Support

Our efforts during Mental Health Awareness Week were just a starting point. Mental health is a year-round issue, and it’s crucial to keep the conversation going.

How You Can Help

  • Talk About It: Conversations about mental health shouldn’t be confined to awareness weeks. Make it a part of your daily dialogue.
  • Support Charities: Organisations like the Mental Health Foundation do incredible work in supporting mental health initiatives. If you can, consider donating or volunteering your time.

By taking these small but impactful steps, we can contribute to a society where mental health is openly discussed, understood, and supported.

Conclusion

Mental Health Awareness Week may have come and gone, but the need for awareness and support continues. Let’s keep the conversation around mental health ongoing and support charities like the Mental Health Foundation in their vital work.

Together, we can make a difference. 💚
