Finance Apprentice
St Mary’s College in Hull is hiring! They are looking for a Finance Apprentice to join their team.
As a Finance Apprentice, you’ll join the friendly and supportive Trust Central Finance Team at St Mary’s College, helping to provide an effective finance service to 15 school academies across the Trust. You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience, develop your professional skills and work towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification while being supported by experienced colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing orders, invoices and payments through Sage Intacct.
- Processing payment runs, remittances and supplier reconciliations.
- Setting up suppliers and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Processing journals, recharges and income receipts.
- Supporting procurement, subscriptions and licence renewals in line with Trust policy.
- Responding to finance queries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing support to the Senior Finance Assistant and Finance Management Team as required.
- You’ll be given the opportunity to learn on the job, take on increasing responsibility and develop your understanding of how a busy central finance function supports schools across the Trust.
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent organisational skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage routine processes accurately and meet deadlines.
- A professional and approachable manner, with the confidence to communicate courteously with colleagues, budget holders, suppliers and other stakeholders by telephone and email.
- A proactive and reliable approach, with the ability to take ownership of tasks, follow up outstanding actions and work collaboratively as part of a central finance team.
- A genuine interest in developing a career in finance.
- A willingness to learn new systems, processes and ways of working.
