“I feel I have developed myself from a personal perspective hugely, as I feel my knowledge within the world of work and the automotive sector has grown since I started my apprenticeship. I have grown professionally as I am confident in the way in which I conduct myself in the workplace and how I communicate with my peers”, Tia explains. She credits her apprenticeship with helping her master professionalism, navigate complex situations, and improve her collaboration skills.
Making a Real Impact
One of Tia’s standout achievements was taking ownership of the company’s Induction Programme. Recognising that the existing e-learning course was no longer in line with the company values, she took the initiative to completely redesign it into an engaging, two-day in-person experience. Delivered by Tia herself, the new induction helps new starters understand how their roles contribute to the broader business goals and allows them to form valuable connections across departments.
Her drive and initiative didn’t go unnoticed. Within just seven months of her apprenticeship, Tia was promoted to HR Administrator, and most recently, to HR Advisor. Her proactive mindset saw her take on responsibilities beyond HR, such as Health & Safety and Training, to gain a holistic view of the company. “I am proud of challenging myself to delve into various departments within the workplace to deepen my knowledge and understanding,” she says.
Shaping a Promising Future
Tia’s apprenticeship journey has laid the foundation for long-term career success. She’s now preparing to complete her CIPD qualification, a step that will formalise her HR expertise. The hands-on experience she gained during her apprenticeship gave her a practical understanding of the workplace, an insight that classroom learning alone couldn’t provide. “It has allowed me to grow my network and build relationships that I can use throughout my career,” Tia adds.
