Meg’s Journey from Apprentice to Marketing Associate

Meg’s Journey from Apprentice to Marketing Associate

For Meg, completing her Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship with Navigation Wealth Management has been the start of an exciting career in marketing.

Meg joined Navigation Wealth Management as a Marketing Apprentice after discovering the opportunity through HBTC. She already knew that marketing was the career she wanted to pursue, but the apprenticeship gave her the chance to find out what working in the industry was really like, while gaining a recognised qualification along the way.

“I knew I wanted to go into marketing and HBTC helped me find this!”

Finding her Feet

When Meg first started, she wasn’t completely sure what to expect. She knew she would have to balance her learning with working in a professional environment, but she was excited to take on the challenge. Her first few weeks were focused on getting to know the team, understanding how Navigation Wealth Management worked, and learning more about the company’s values and the different roles within the business.

As Meg’s confidence grew, so did her responsibilities.

Today, she manages a wide range of marketing activity for Navigation Wealth Management, from social media and email marketing to event planning and physical marketing materials. She also works closely with the company’s advisers, helping them develop marketing plans and create content.

Gaining Real Experience

One of the biggest benefits of Meg’s apprenticeship has been the opportunity to work on real marketing projects and see the impact of her work. Throughout her time with Navigation Wealth Management, she has been involved in campaigns including the Business Owner Campaign, Protection Planning Campaign and a range of internal engagement campaigns. These projects have allowed Meg to develop skills in content creation, social media, graphic design, campaign planning, event management and analysing results.

One of her proudest achievements was managing a client feedback campaign from start to finish. The campaign received more than 700 responses, with 98% of the feedback being positive. Meg has also brought plenty of creativity to the business through internal campaigns, including Formula 1-themed activities designed to encourage team engagement and friendly competition.

Bringing New Ideas to the Business

Meg’s impact has gone beyond developing her own skills. She has also helped Navigation Wealth Management explore new ways of reaching and engaging with its audience.

Matt Hammond, C.E.O. at Navigation Wealth Management, explains that Meg has introduced the business to platforms including Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, helping to build its online presence. She has also played a part in shaping the company’s Mission and Purpose Statement and has helped bring these ideas to life through creative artwork used across the business.

For Matt, one of the biggest benefits of having an apprentice has been the fresh perspective Meg has brought to the team. He describes it as “a different thought dynamic, diversity and ability to coach us as much as we coach her.”

Personal Development

For Meg, the apprenticeship has been an important part of her personal development as well as her professional journey. She has become more confident, improved her communication skills, and learned to feel comfortable contributing her own ideas. Working on real campaigns and projects has also helped her understand how different areas of marketing come together.

When she first started, Meg mainly thought of marketing as graphic design and creative work. Her apprenticeship has shown her just how varied the industry is and how much strategy goes into successful marketing. She says the experience has helped her “genuinely fall in love with the profession.”

A Growing Career with Navigation Wealth Management

From the beginning, Navigation Wealth Management wanted their apprenticeship to be more than simply a work placement. The aim was to bring someone into the business who could develop alongside the company and build a long-term career.

That is exactly what has happened.

Having successfully completed her apprenticeship, Meg has been offered an employed position as a Marketing Associate with Navigation Wealth Management.

She will continue to lead marketing initiatives across the business, while developing her knowledge, taking on more responsibility and building on everything she has learned during her apprenticeship. Matt says the business has been delighted with Meg’s progress and believes she will continue to play an important role in its future.

Meg’s Advice to Future Apprentices

Looking back on her apprenticeship, Meg would encourage anyone considering an apprenticeship to take the opportunity. She believes the combination of learning and real workplace experience has given her a strong foundation for her career and helped her develop skills that she can continue to use throughout her working life.

“An apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience while learning and earning at the same time.”

Meg’s journey shows how an apprenticeship can be much more than a way to gain a qualification. It can provide the opportunity to build confidence, discover what you enjoy, make a real contribution to a business and, ultimately, take the first steps towards a long-term career.

For Meg, that career is now well underway at Navigation Wealth Management.

Well done, Meg; we are so proud of all that you have achieved and cannot wait to see what’s next for you!
