Meet the Staff: Lily

Meet the Staff: Lily

We’re excited to introduce Lily in our Meet the Staff series, who has recently joined HBTC as a Recruitment Administrator Apprentice and has already made a fantastic impression as part of our recruitment team.

Lily has been with us for just a month and is currently completing her Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. In her role, she supports the recruitment process by carrying out telephone interviews, sourcing candidates and CVs, and helping individuals take their first steps towards their dream apprenticeships and careers.

Even in a short space of time, Lily has shown real confidence and professionalism. From being comfortable on the phone to working efficiently and adapting quickly to new tasks, she is already excelling in her role. As she continues to develop in her apprenticeship, Lily will also begin working more closely with employers, helping to organise interviews and coordinate opportunities between businesses and candidates.

We asked Lily a few questions so you can get to know her better:

Meet the Staff: Lily, our new Recruitment Administrator Apprentice at HBTC.

What is one piece of advice you would give to your younger self?
“One piece of advice I would give to my younger self is to never give up. Things will always get hard, but harder times are the lead-up to success. I would remind myself to never give up and never let those bad days stop me from fighting to keep going, so I can reach success in my life.”

How do you like to unwind after a busy day at work?
“After work, when I get home, I take my dog on a walk. Once back from the walk, I like to prepare and have my tea whilst watching a bit of telly downstairs. After my tea, I will run myself a nice bath and then get into my Pj’s and do my nightly skin care routine. When everything is done, I get into bed and watch a film or a series and try to wind down for the night so I can get an early night ready for the next day.”

Which season do you enjoy the most, and what do you love about it?
“My favourite season is summer, this is because I love the nice weather and being able to spend my time out of the house doing all kinds of activities, it’s also my birthday in summer so I get to celebrate with friends and family and because the weather is usually nice, we are all able to get together and do something instead of being stuck inside because its cold or rainy.”

What key skills do you bring to your position that benefit our team?
“Personally, I feel like I have experience working in a job in which I need to be on the phone a lot, which means I am confident and know how to converse with people. I also feel like I have the skills of quick learning, which have helped me so far within my role, as I feel like I have progressed very quickly and been able to complete tasks that maybe some people would struggle with this early on in a new job.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
“My dream destination to go to is the Maldives; this is because of the sea huts that you can stay in. I love the idea of being on a holiday and being able to stay somewhere which is quite secluded and quiet, rather than a busy hotel where there are hundreds of screaming kids weeing in the pools, etc.  I also really want to swim with dolphins; it’s always been a dream of mine, and this is something you can do in the Maldives.”

What’s the last activity that made you lose track of time?
“The last activity I did that made me lose track of time was Lego. I’m currently creating a 4-tier Lego shelf in my living room, the themes for each shelf being flowers, Disney, animals and then random pieces.
I also do a lot of colouring, which makes me lose track of time often, as instead of just doing one image, I always have to do more than one image.”

Lily brings a great mix of enthusiasm, warmth, and capability, and we’re really pleased to have her as part of the team. Well done, Lily. You’re already doing such a fantastic job, and we look forward to seeing you continue to develop, grow in confidence, and thrive in your role at HBTC.
