Case Study: How BBO Gave Me Confidence and Direction

I joined the BBO programme as I wanted a career, not just a job. As a parent with young children, I needed something that fitted around my family life and as the support for BBO was offered as online and telephone support it meant that I was able to do what I could when I had time and wasn’t juggling too much at once. I wanted to show my children that you can achieve things even when you have a lot on your plate.

Quote: "The BBO programme has helped to give me confidence and direction"

I would definitely recommend the BBO course to others that are looking to get back into work. It taught me that I wasn’t the only one on benefits and trying to move on and do something because sometimes we are seen negatively. It was nice to talk to people and one thing I learned was to pace myself, to listen and if there is something I don’t understand it is best to leave it for a while and then return to it later and see things more clearly.

I found the BBO programme very useful. I completed online qualifications relevant to Teaching Assistants to allow me to gain some knowledge in this area and it increased my confidence to move on to other things.

The BBO programme has helped to give me confidence and direction and I am now undertaking a level 2 Award in Support work in Schools and Colleges which I hope will help me further on my journey to becoming a Teaching Assistant.

How can I join the BBO programme?
